5d ii or another 7d???

Have posted this in the OOF section as most troll here for bits and i want honest feed back as to what to do

i think i am allready set as i have spoken to a few, but would like people who have used either or both to add their input please...

Seeing your into sports photography, the 7d would be the logical choice.

I have experience using both.
5DMk2 great colour and dynamic range rendition. I use it on landscapes, architecture, events, fashion and interiors.
7D fast and very responsive. I use it on sports, animations, time lapse and stealth journalism.
Both are a great combo as they share the same batteries.
Another great combo is the 5DMk1 and 40D. Same batteries too.

Yeah i am aware of the battery issue, and hence me wanting to get two that use similar hardware having 5 bateries over two bodies would be ample for a couple weeks of photography with the need for charging

been seriously thinking about a D3 but the hardest thing is how to get around getting rid of all my gear to swap bodies.. I have played with a D2X (yes i washed my dirty dirty hands after) and like the feel and balance of the body

would pobably end up doing a wedding with the 24-70 on the 5D II and a 70-200 on the 7D good balance of wide and long, the 7 with the 70-200 is a good candid capturer... as the focus is crisp and quick and the speed ample to get a quick few off...

went out to Norwell, as my bro in law wa doing some laps in a V8 super taxi, at the driving school, Allan lent me the 600mm F4 and i was playing with the 5D II and it, was quite happy, got some very nice low speed pans at 1/50th and ISO 50 was happy with the focus, even if it was a little slow ish...

will post it up tomorrow or tonight

Just remember that the 5D series is primarily a single point focus camera, you will get the most out of it by using the centre AF point, and thats all. Dont bother with AI Servo and other focusing points as it is plain crap and wont do the camera any justice.

Thanks Jackie, was meaning to call you about it as you have also used one a fair bit, but i couldnt find your number , i been playing with it (turned the focus assist points on), have allready noticed its focus inability, but i didnt buy it for sports... more for portraits and landscape stuff...

it compliments the 7 not competes with it and the 16-35 is really wide on it!!!

24-70 is almost enough on its own !
