    canon 50mm 1.4 lens hood

has anyone got a non genuine lens hood for their 50mm 1.4 (canon).

im looking at the bayonet type not the filter mount type.

ive seen a few cheapies on ebay but none of them seem to have the felted inner.

has anyone got an es-71 II (non canon) knockoff (or a super cheap canon one), and where did you get it from?

    cheers!

    hmmmn.

    thanks for checking!

most seem to be plastic. i read somewhere on the interwebs that the canon ones were felted. (my 67mm is felt on the inside and was a cheap knockoff)

i dont want to pay $40 for a piece of plastic with felt!

In general the nifty fifty refers to the f1.8 version of the 50mm lens (no matter what brand you use). The reason being that it is often made of plastic, and is very cheap as far as lenses go, but it can produce some stunning results.

Shmenz, if its any use to you, I was looking for a lens hood for my 18-200 earlier on a site in Gold Coast that I've shopped at previously, just saw this thread and went back and checked for the one your after, they have what you want in an original for 29. Not sure (as I'm still fairly new) if I should be mentioning as their not one of the sponsors for the site.
