    Help please.

I have read through the manual but I really cannot find the answer.

I have gone through the menus ( after switching them from the owners native German to English ) and I cannot find the setting.

Can someone please point me to where you switch the focus acquisition from the shutter to the "back button" on a 550 D.

I had a similar episode a while back where the focus was set to the back button on another persons 550D body and could not find how to change it but it wasn't a major concern at the time but it is now.

    Hello Andrew

Try scrolling through the menu until you get to Custom functions, select these by pushing the set button on the back of the camera. Scroll through the custom functions and I think you will find what you want.

I don't own a 550D so I could be wrong but I have 5D's and 30D and they are this way.

Thanks Gary, off to try it now -------

Thanks Gary, that works. Wunderbar in fact!!! Seeing as the menu has to be swapped back and forth between users.

Thanks Arthur, having to learn German and Canonese in one day is all too much. Dunno why they just can't call it something sensible like the "AF-ON" button like Nikon.

Geoff, I have absolutely no control over what our current guests use for photographing, I just try to help wherever I can.

Learning to use the "better way of focussing" via the rear button is just another step on her journey towards photographic nirvana after she purchased Hayden's Siggy 10-20.
