Exposure/brightness

What is the difference between exposure adjustment and brightness adjustment when converting raw images in PS or LR. ?? When should brightness be used instead of levels/curves/exposure?

My understanding is that the exposure adjust the blacks, whites and greys. Over and under exposing an image.

My understanding with the brightness, contrast features is to fine tune heavily over/under exposed images, evening out the tones.

Thanks Shane; that made me feel good because that's how I thought it would be and how I was doing it. I'm not such a dumb old bugga after all; well not until the next question anyway

Those tools probably aren't the best to use, the best way is to use RAW exposure adjustments or in Photoshop to increase brightness, create a new layer, and change the blending mode to "Screen". Then adjust opacity to taste
