That looks like a beast of a lens, good looking though. Will keep an eye out for some pictures from you.
"We are the Knights who say Ni!" .. Ni!, Ni! ... Ni!
(if you don't know what I'm referring too, then I won't explain their subsequent need for a shrubbery then! .. but be warned because you can't pass unless you've satisfied the Knights who say Ni!)
great lens!... I'm hoping to have one by years end too!
Well she didn't kill me, she laughed. I'm very lucky I think.

It arrived this morning. How good is that?

Wow, looks great, Jim. Congrats, mate!
Did you AF or manually focus?
If manually, did you use LiveView?
Good attempt, and there's definitely soem good resolution in this image, but as I can see it, a bit OOF in the central part(where you;d expect focus to be spot on to within a micron!) and there seems to be slightly more resolution at the upper far left, where there seems to be a better focus point.
ie. Looks to be slightly back focused.
One thing I've learned over my limited macro trials and tribulations, is to use LiveView at every 'possible' opportunity.
Arthur, I focussed on the big bubble to the right, and it's pretty sharp. DOF is very small, but allowing for that the lens is capable of extremely sharp.
Hand-held, and my live view doesn't work (as explained to the point of exhaustion on another thread somewhere around here). All of which doesn't help, but I posted this about 30 minutes after delivery. Keen, see?
What am I saying? I couldn't handhold at 1/50 if my life depended on it. Tripod used.

Aha! I assumed it was on the two smaller bubbles to the left of it.
To me the second leaf down from the top, over on the far left still looks a tad sharper tho. So they'd have to be at least on a similar plane of focus, if not the same.
Didn't know about the Lv problems on your camera either.
Completely understand on the level of keeness to snap away as much as possible as quickly as possible as well, when it comes to using new gear!
