after trawling the web looking for reviews of Nikon tele converters I came across this guys site..its a great read..as are some of his other field reviews ...

Ive decided Ill get the 2xIII tele...even though its quite a expensive...it will go well with my 70-200 VRII

Excellent review, good find, I might need to consider one of these for my d700. Thanks.

I have the TC20EIII and it is worlds better than the old TC20EII it replaces. Costs almost double, but worth it.

i ended up with the 1.7xII in the finish...it seemed the best compromise between reach versus cost/ image softness etc....im well happy with it and works a treat on a 70-200VRII...

I saw that review about 9 months ago when I was thinking of the 300 f2.8 VRII. Once I saw how well it went with the 2x TCIII, I decided to get it. The 2x TCIII is a magnificent TC and works brilliantly with the 70-200 f2.8 VRII and the 300 f2.8 VRII. I also have the 1.4x TCII and the 1.7x TCII. A couple of samples from the 2x TCIII:

    D700 + 300 f2.8 VRII + 2x TCIII handheld:

    D700 + 70-200 f2.8 VRII + 2x TCIII handheld:

Lance, some of these are razor sharp, crackers indeed.
