There are a good number of older Pentax lens for sale on E/bay.
As to whether they are cheap is a moot point as I have watched prices double and more in a relatively short time
Check out the lens reviews on the US Pentax forum site." First link in the above post"

Cheers

The best way to get some lenses is to check out ebay and look for old cameras with them attached, you'll find plenty.
Which ones ? phewwww where do you start....
50mm F1.2,1.4,1.7,2
Then just keep going so so many
Cheers Neil

The screw mount ones are great & cheap but you need to by a Pentax M42 to K mount adaptor for about $50. There are generics much cheaper on e-bay but don't always get you infinity focus. I'm currently trying to get a genuine Pentax one to check measurements. I use, in m42 screw mount a SuperTak 50mm 1.4 & a SuperTak 135mm 3.5. They are fantastic.
I think I'd try & get the same in the "M" version if I was you, that way you get the same lens but they are in K mount & not as old. I regularly use my Pentax M 28mm 2.8. That was about $60 a few months ago.

The 55mm 1.8 gets huge wraps & that really is a bargain. (the 50mm 1.2 is about $400 second hand, I can live without that one.)

There are Helios 55mm as well. They've got a cult following but you can still get one for $20.

I also use some Tamron zooms adaptall 11 . Now, with those if you want an adapter for Pentax with the electrical connections it will set you back over $120. ($20 without the electrics) Those lenses I've bought though for $10 - $80
Good luck, it's great fun & you can set yourself up for next to nothing. I'd prefer to manual focus anyway.

Where do you get them, I've bought from B & H in the USA, Adorama & KEH, also in the USA. B & H is a sponser of this forum; I think Adorama is now too. Remember postage, though. Google second hand lens in Australia. There's a store in Adelaide I think. I do tend to avoid e-bay myself.

Need more info, just ask.

Check the "Photo Trader", off the shelf in your local newsagent. And advertise there, also; it's free.
I'd be looking for 50/55mm, 28mm and 85 mm lenses. The 105mm f2.8 is also worth considering.

Photoco Camera House in Adelaide always has 2nd hand Pentax lenses for sale, worth checking their website for the online 2nd hand catalogue which is updated every fortnightly, or give them a call

just keep checking ebay, things come and go. I think there are a couple on ebay at the moment. The few manual lenses I have are all from ebay and so far I've had no problems (touch wood...). Which state are you in? Michael's camera store in Melbourne have secondhand lenses. I bought a secondhand m42 screw mount adaptor there.

I lost this thread, maybe Li2i did too, being a new member.

Some of these lenses are classics & rare so bring big bucks. But the super taks are all great, difference is in the rarity. I think from memory the 105 - 2.8 is one of those, rare & expensive because it is rare. It's still a great lens but so is the Super Tak 50mm 1.4 at a fraction of the price.

The Super Tak 50mm f4 macro is another and so is the aforementioned 50mm 1.2. Big bucks but not worth it if you aren't a collector.

If you want a macro, buy a reversing adaptor for maybe $20.

The SuperTak 135 f3.5 always crashes into any day out I want to spend with another lens. There's divided opinion as to wether or not this is better than the equivalent focal lenghth 2.8. But again they are cheap & brilliant value.

I'll stop now, getting carried away.

I have bought & will continue to buy s/h lenses from Ebay/ Pentax Forum and from US, but don't expect all the lenses you want to suddenly appear the day you look, you have to keep searching but I assure you they will turn up.

The reason they are getting more expensive is supply & demand plus the Canon owners buying all the M42's.

M42 & K mount "M" lenses generally are good starting points, however get a genuine Pentax M42/K mount adaptor as even if you pay a tidy sum you can always get your money back if these lenses are not what you want.

I bought a M28/2.8 and a M135/3.5 from a local Cash Converter, costing me just $25 each. And a Sigma 100-300mm/4.5-6.7 for $35.
I also bought several old lenses from this Ebay seller in UK. They stock a lot of Pentax gear. Not cheap, but lenses are in excellent conditions and delivery is quick. (http://stores.ebay.com/Emilia-Arts?_rdc=1)
There are huge amount of Pentax 28mm/2.8 and 50mm/2 available in Ebay. US$60 will get you a good one.
