Yup! The megapixel war is over - pixel density & size ... and physics is the cause !
The only way to 'fix' it is bigger pixels and that means bigger sensors if you want lots of pixels.
I'm waiting to see the Pentax 645D later this year - a medium format DSLR.
Bigger pixels also mean less noise.
It is also why (APS-C) a (say) 12mp camera may do better than an 18mp in some situations.
If only someone could develop a diffraction-less lens 
(and if your wondering why that statement is a joke ... think pinhole camera)

hmmm let me think about it...
7D has twin Digic4 Processors, does 8 fps, and has 19 all cross type AF points... and thats just the stuff written on the box...
