Sigma 10-20 and 50-500

Kym - see you have 50-500 Sigma & 10-20 Sigma. Wonder if you would mind posting comments on these 2 lenses. Eg., how does the Bigma perform at 135-200 & at 400 & 500 focal lengths?

Both are very good.

You can see the 50-500 in my bird posts.
I don't seem to use the 10-20 as much - but when I have it just works.

There was some discussion about this lens in this thread:

http://www.ausphotography.net.au/for...ad.php?t=40012

Kym also posted some examples about half way down.

Re the 10-20, I have heard only positive things from Nikon and Canon users, can't image it on a Pentax would be much different.

Hi,
50-500mm is a very good lens, especially from 200-500mm, a little weaker at 50-200.
It is pretty fast focusing and has good bokeh. I was surprised to find this out while doing some flower shots.
It also has a reasonably close focus at 500mm, not quite macro but very useful.
It can be successfully hand held but is better suited to a monopod or tripod.
The lens has severe zoom creep but comes with a zoom lock.
The lens itself is 1.5 kgs, comes with a lovely bag, strap and tripod mount.

I would personally recommend this lens and would also say that you should consider the pentax DA12-24mm as an alternative to the 10-20mm sigma.

Cheers Neil

here are a couple of examples at 500mm

Bokeh

Through a fence, you can just make out the lines of diffraction caused from the fence wire !!

and at distance, 60mtrs~ hand held, manual focus. 08 aus MotoGP phillip Is.

10-20 Sigma is a good lens...... like all lens there can be the odd one that is a touch off focus......

50-500 Sigma I tend to only use at the 500mm end and the odd times with a 1.4 TC..... fantastic results...... images here http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/3188300_Z5ena
