Metz Flash &K20d

I have a Metz flash gun Model 45CL-4 the non digital version which i wish to use on a K20D.
I have used this with an ISTD L .
Can anyone tell me if the flash voltage allowance has changed between the ISTD & K20D.
I have put a voltage meter on the hot shoe adaptor of the flash, with the flash unit powered up it reads 11.4 volts.
I believe pentax can go up to 24 volts but not sure where i read it.
Would hate to blow the bags out of my new k20d.
Regards
GeeDee

Found this little tid bit on DP Review.

Looks like Pentax Japan are the bottle neck in this

Maybe try giving CR Kennedy a call as they are in the importer/distributor for Australia.

As long as you can verify the the max voltage accepted by the camera, you will be fine with the Metz, I know my 40D has a max voltage on the hotshoe of 6 volts and the max voltage on the PC socket is 250 volts.

BTW (and pedantically): you camera is a '*ist D' said 'star-ist D' (rhymes with guitarist) - not ISTD.
This was on of Pentax marketing's worst mistakes (the '*ist' range naming, not the cameras)!
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxistd/
For a 2003 camera the *ist D is not bad!

Thankyou CypherOz
I stand corrected. Currently selling the ist D as i have updated to the K20D.
That should fix problems getting the name correct. By the way i checked the box to make sure i didnt get K20D listed wrong.

I confess I wasn't sure how to pronounce it . Thanks for the info, Kym.

I may be guessing - however, I would assume that the differences may be a lower power in the hot shoe (ie safer), which some old flashguns, can damage newer digital cameras with an incompatible trigger voltage - and secondly, perhaps, the recycling time of the newer version of the flash is faster (digital tends to encourage faster shooting).

Thanks, Longshots. It sounds close to the mark to me. I couldn't find any ref to it on the Metz site, but I'm still looking. Am...

its also to do with the newer metering systems on DSLRs, more complex than film ones or first generation DSLRs years ago
