Oh... My wife tells me Ive shrunk in the wash so Im only six feet 2 now instead of six feet four...doh. Meantime, Im going to have to get a taller tripod and go do yoga classes for the fixed focal length lenses Im hankering for. The tripod I have fully extended forces me to bend down too much too often- anyway its a cheapy I got when I started so a newbie thats taller is in order soon.
Comments and CC welcome..

Oh you need one like Philr's then, he's tall, and he doesn't have to bend down at all looking through his camera. I got the Manfrotto 190XDB and its plenty tall enough for me
Picked my new Canon EF 50MM 1.8 II today for 140.00 and have already been driving the Mrs and kittens made with the new lens and Speedlite which makes indoor night shooting amongst other things a whole lot easier and more better.. more better huh....sheesh I am tired.
Anyway Im getting into portraits now and macro and this is a good lens to start me going I think.. will post a pic or 2 over the weekend. Now im hunting down a tripod for next weeks naughty buy.. bring it on
Nice one David I did the same thing with mine when I first got it..lol the kids all run from me now
yeah the 50mm and speedlight inside make for way easier inside shots Hope you're enjoying it David

A friend just bought me a recently serviced and CLA'd Kiev 4 out of the blue. Fantastic!
A couple of things for me
Picked up a $25.00 Laser level kit from Bunnings, an L bracket and have made myself a pano head for less than $40.00.
Also grabbed a Craftright "Safe Case" (Pelican knock off) 465mmx360mmx175mm, Top and bottom eggshell foam with double layer of pick and pluck foam. Equivalent to a 1500 Pelican I suppose
How much you ask $69.00 yes you heard right $69.00
Got the OC-E3 off camera shoe to go with the 50mm lens that goes with the 430 EX Speedlite that I got in the past week getting all geared up for portrait photography and my first flash meetup in QLD in a couple of weeks: now I 'need' a tripod that can support the xtra weight on top etc..and maybe a brolly or 2....this is a hobby, right ?
Its all good, havent gone past the glass ceiling of paying 1000.00+ for a lens yet
Just purchased a EF 35mm f/2. Hopefully I can get it next week! So exciteddd!

Well I got my new bag from D-D-Photographic today... Took advantage of their 50% off Lowepro Camera bags... :-)
I got a Lowepro Computrekker Plus Rolling!!!
Its Huge!!! A lot bigger than my Tamrac Aero 80...
It needs an instruction manual...
I'm not 100% sure if i should have got the non-rolling version over this one... for two reasons, the extra weight, and the extra room that's taken by the handle...
I think I need to learn how to pack it... as because I've got a grip on my 40D it sticks up above the sides...
Anyone got this bag or the non-rolling version, and found a good way to pack their bag?
