    Illusion of Colour...

I came across the first image link on an MSN forum, and searched for a more original source.
The closest so far is in the second link.

    Link 1: Click and stare
To see that only the grid is in colour, use the likes of the color-picker tool in Photoshop on the other "colours"

    Link 2: Others
    and this.
    Happy Hallucinating...

Human perception and cognition is fascinating. The more I learn about it (not that I know very much) the more it seems to me that our minds were designed by nature to do little more than navigate about the place without bumping into things, and even that is something of a miracle.

That humans have produced wonders like General Relativity, the Sistine Ceiling and the All Blacks is really quite admirable.

Ah, Landyvlad! - The hype that pervades the internet

How often do you read the likes of "[Insert class of dullard here] lose it over [some twerp/twerpene's] latest hack/fad/nothing-at-all..."

-- And don't get me started over "influencers" - which is just misspelt effluencers

But like you, I found it interesting.

I might have to try it one day

Take and black and white photo, and overlay it with some colours, just for some fun lol

And even our camera sensors can also get it wrong. There is a shade of purple/blue that our camera sensors cannot reproduce and it results in the shade coming out blue in photos. It has been some time since I learned this, but i recall that there is a particular flower that never came out as it appeared in real life. Apparently it relates to the blue/purple colour being close to ultra-violet and it confuses the sensor.

I wonder if that relates to the phenomenon where blue LEDs are really pronounced in photos and videos?

^Bits... From what little I could find, no. That problem seems related to how
[cheaper?] sensors can't handle the shorter (B, V) light from the LEDs - and
maybe generally. So, quite the opposite of an illusion
