CC, Image editing OK.
Talking about "pieces of kit", I took delivery of my Canon 5DsR on Tuesday. Work is pretty hectic this week but I have high hopes of getting some play time on the weekend.
woo who, went to Melbourne and picked up a 150-600 contemporary siggy, out and about to test tommorow
cheers macca
i will post shots tomorrow night
you do not need a 120-400
cheers macca
I bought one of these from B&H and it arrived today.

pros
much more compact than an 804rc2 head
nicely engineered
easy to use
cons
I'm not a fan of the arca Swiss plate. I prefer the manfrotto mounting plate/mounting. I need an Allen key to tighten/remove the plate on the camera. The manfrotto one can be tightened with fingers.
i can't mount it on top of my spider holster mounting plate thingy, so need to remove and replace that each time now.
So really the only issue is with the mounting of plates on the camera. If I was swapping these around a lot this would be a real PITA. Luckily I'm not.

My Pentax 20-40mm f2.8 Ltd WR has just been delivered....very excited!
Should be able to get out and try it today, with a bit of luck.
Pentax K-1, K-3 and some lovely, mostly Pentax, mostly prime lenses - DFA 15-30, 24-70, and 100 Macro, FA 31, 43, and 77 Ltd, DA* 200 & 50-135, DA 12-24, 20-40 (ltd), 15, 21, 35 (Ltd) Macro, 40, 50, plus a couple of manuals from way back and a few others for good luck.
Speaking of Pentax, I just received an excellent condition FA 50mm f1.7, all the way from Germany (ebay). That's the lens I'll be using to take photos of no. 2 son on the squash court. My Pentax 20-40mm f2.8 Ltd WR has just been delivered....very excited!
Also, I was GIVEN, yes GIVEN an M-50mm f1.7 on the weekend, in mint condition. It was attached to a very poor condition ME Super, fit for the bin.
Not new kit, I know, but I'm pretty happy with my "new to me" fifties.

There is a spider holster attachment for arca swiss.
Don't be at all surprised if the 'M' 50mm f1.7 outshines the FA variant. That 'M' lens was one of the best Pentax produced. And I still have one, the last of my Pentax kit.

Just received my EQ mount and tripod, mount 9Kg, tripod 6Kg, 36AH gel battery to power mount 14Kg + camera, all up about 32Kg. Oh, plus 2 x 5Kg counterweights.
This is the biggest portable (?) mount available. Thankfully it comes in individual bits and I have a 4WD to get to where I want to use it.

Now all I need to do is learn how to use it, and hope for some clear skies.
Yes, thanks for that MM. I spotted that the other day. There are actually two options, a spider plate that clamps onto the Arca swiss plate or an arca swiss plate that screws onto the two mounting points on the spider plate. I nearly bought one, but it seems that if I mount the Arca tripod mount on top of the spider holster plate using one of the threaded holes, that works. Unfortunately I also spotted the wrist strap and decided I'd buy one of those to replace the rather bulky one I currently have
I also bought a mounting bolt with a D ring off Ebay so it can be tightened or removed by hand. I can't believe that every mounting plate doesn't come with one of these really.
I forgot to mention the other downside of the Uniqball though, and that's the price
I've just got an x-100 on eBay but it's still on its way in the post. With the release of the latest model I thought I could justify picking up a cheap one.
Waiting, waiting, waiting
just had my elinchrom br 500 lights and soft boxes delivered, looking good
cheers macca
Got my 35mm macro lens and took it for a walk this arvo....very sweet.
Finally upgraded my 650D to a 70D. Canon have $150 cashback on these at the moment so it was too good to resist!
