With a yawning gap between my Sigma 14/2.8 & 80-200/2.8, I have been eyeing off low budget alternatives to Nikon's fine, but out-of-reach-'til-the-kids-leave-home wide angle zooms for landscapes.
A left field alternative I didn't originally consider was the old Sigma 17-35/2.8-4.0.
With very mixed reviews online, the most common complaint was that it was quite soft.
Other people had no problems. Anyway, took a gamble & picked up one on ebay for about $250
Arrived yesterday, so I ducked out to my favourite cemetery to test it out
So far so good. Certainly seems sharp enough for my current needs.
