    D3 shutter count total

Hi.. I was wondering if anyone here can give me the total count that a D3 sensors life is supposed to have?

I have looked on alot of sites, even typed in specs on YouTube and looked at DP review but nothing.. thinking of going to that from my D700.. dont want to go any further up as i like my 12MP
    Cheers

150K clicks, for the SHUTTER. but they can fail at any time, ie 5000 clicks, or last into the higher numbers. Friends have had one fail at 27k clicks and another one is using one with nearly 500k clicks and not a single failure. So the 150k estimate is just that.

your sensor should last a damn long time. It is the shutter that fails.

I was pretty certain the D3 is rated to 300k actuation which is the norm for the high end professional cameras.

According to one survey for the D3:

Average number of actuations after which shutter is still alive: 171,590.9
Average number of actuations after which shutter died: 674,022.9
Therefore Nikon's rated 300,000 shutter actuations looks to be a reasonably accurate estimation.

between 100K and 200K, you see more start to fail, but not alarmingly so.
between 100K and (nearly)400K, they start to fail on a more regular basis(~30%).

Of course this is only a rough guide, and each individual unit is susceptible to it's own environmental conditions .. so take any figures you see posted anywhere with a grain of salt, and only as a guide .. not as a measure of actual durability.
