Hello,
I would like to purchase a cable release for my K20D but the Pentax version seems to have a very short cable and seems to be a big complaint among users. Can anyone recommend another compatible brand that may have a longer cord.
Would appreciate any other suggestions.

Another one for the ebay ones. Cheap and perfectly serviceable. The Pentax ones are compatible with the entry level Canon ones and a cheap timer remote can be found as well.

Mine is a Micnova Remote Switch, cable is a touch under 1 metre , purchased in a store...here. (Not much help to you).
It was actually for a Canon but is compatible with Pentax.
