    Perth airport viewing platform

For those that don't know and are into photographing aircraft, there is now a viewing platform open to the public on Dunreath Dve (the road connecting the internation with domestic). I haven't checked it out myself yet, but I believe it is very good. It's on my "to do" list.

Me too but with recent fire and car crash fatality I think I'll steer clear of this place for a few more weeks.

The Qantas club in the domestic also gives a great runway view unobstructed if you are travelling with your gear and can get access.

I'll hopefully be going there this Saturday 15/1 after lunch, there'll be a South African A340 coming in around 1.25pm, along with the regular Boeing 777s, A320s and other planes servicing WA and other places....

Visited the viewing platform today and it is pretty good. Although, it can be a bit hit and miss for photographic opportunities as the wind / weather determines which runway they use. But I think I will be back there again.

Hi Paddy, yup, I did get some pics. Used my Nikon 70-300mm and that was good enough, I think. I've put some pics on my Flickr account - http://www.flickr.com/photos/i_am_re...7628862160163/

    Cheers!!

Just checked out your pics. They are excellent. Where did you take them from? The viewing platform? Great shots

    Thanks!

Yeah, I took them all from the viewing platform with a mix of lenses - Nikon 70-300VR and the Sigma 150-500. Used a light monopod to steady the camera, especially needed for the Siggy, it's pretty heavy. That said, I had to handhold it for a few hours at the Pearce 2012 airshow last month....

Thanks for all that info. It appears to have paid off because you have some great images.
