    Camera HSC Major project

    Hello everyone,
This year i have to complete a major project for design and technology. I was thinking of making a portable camera stabilisation rig which incorporated gyroscopes, although I'm not quite sure. What do you guys think? Any ideas of other camera related projects that should be done?

There are some very good 3 axis gyros available for R/C helicopters.
Not the ones used on the $49 models, but the bigger more realistic models.
They should be available from good hobby shops.
Perhaps one of these could be utilised.
All my photos are taken with recycled pixels.

thank you for the reply. yes i know the gyroscope that you speak of. i've just posted this thread as i am unsure whether there are existing product that match my projects idea which is a camera rig that utilises in-built gyros. It is crucial that my design is original.i've also been told that camera products have been done excessively and there is hardly any more room for new products and this makes me hesitant

Do you have to build a working one, or just design one up?

If it's a similar course to one my son did, he will have to DESIGN and BUILD it, and unless I'm mistaken, ranging in price from $1.2 to $10K this sort of technology is going to be WAY out of the price range of a HS student.

There are of course static stabilisers available that use counterweights, etc such as the Steadicam, but even they start at around $700, then there are the Chinese knockoffs available on eBay for around $100.

IF the OP could design and build a stabiliser incorporating a gyroscope at a similar price to a consumer tripod, say up to $300, he could be on a winner.

yes i also have to physically construct it, i was thinking producing of a cheaper alternative this , kind of similar to the diy rigs that have two hard disk drives to stabilise that are lurking around the net, or there is this that kind of inspired me in the first place: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewK7NkcCFCk .Is this going to be possible or should i move onto another idea?

This is an RC Plane co pilot device that levels on two axis at the horizon that could be of use to you as well as a RC Helicopter three axis gyro

    Hope this helps.
