will a 24-105mm lens hood work on a 10-22mm lens??

hi guys as stated above i am wondering if a 24-105mm lens hood work on a 10-22mm lens. as i have just purchased a 10-22mm lens and already have the lens hood from a 24-105mm lens.

I'd say not. If it has been well-engineered, then the angles of the shields would match the requirements of the lens. The overall wider lens would have zones where the hood would be less effective.

And impede into the frame, especially at 10mm.

I highly doubt it as well.

Best off jumping on ebay. $5 or so will get you a chinese one delivered to your door.
Genuine Canon is probably $50 or $60.

I have both lenses, it certainly fits, but not sure about vignetting etc. I'll try it now...

Well, it fits on nicely. At 10mm you can just and I mean barely see the edges of the hood on the sides and bottom edges. They disappear by about 11-12mm. The recommended hood for the 10-22mm is an EW-83E (reference here) and the one I have (which came with the 24-105) is the EW-83H. I reckon you could give it a go.

I always leave my hoods on from teles to ultra wides, just prevents things or ppl from accidentally bumping into the lens and leaving a smear or fingerprint or scratching it. I find it invaluable for protection and reducing flare etc
