Site software upgrade Saturday 26th (afternoon)

We have just upgraded the Library (wiki) software in preparation for a maintenance upgrade this Saturday afternoon (2011-11-26 14:00)

vBulletin 4.1.8 will be installed. AusPhotography will be offline for up to 2 hours.

4.1.8 brings some fixes to the new post editor, some browser compatibility fixes and a couple of performance improvements in search.
    Gory details here: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...or-Download%29

If you have any issues please post them in this thread.

    @Geoff -- hmmm??
IE 9 is ok as is Firefox and Chrome.
Try a hard refresh. This release fixes a bunch of compatibility issues, my guess is you need to clear your cache.

Clear cache and then do a hard refresh : Ctrl + f5, on the page you are having trouble with

I've merged the threads -- please keep all issues here

    See http://www.ausphotography.net.au/for...shooting_guide for trouble shooting.

The browsers supported by this release are IE7,8,9, Firefox 3.6+, Chrome (latest), Opera (latest)

The editor component has been updated... which uses javascript... which is why you may need to force those components to re-load via a hard refresh and/or cache clear.

Try clicking 'Go Advanced' or double clicking 'Reply to thread' which loads the full editor -- see if that lets you reply.

BTW Re-boots NOT needed, only a hard refresh (Ctrl/F5) of the browser should be enough. Cookies are NOT the issues, just the cached javascript.

I'm about to restart the web server to help forcing a refresh.

Geoff, it could be an add-on in IE that is causing your issues. TRY THIS:

Go to the START menu and click RUN. Type “iexplore -extoff” and then click OK. When IE opens, navigate to AP and see if the quick reply box is back. If so, then it’s probably an add-on problem preventing you from seeing it normally and you will need to disable the offending add-on. Go to Tools–>Manage Add-ons and scroll through them. The Microsoft ones are usually ok. Look for anything that is marked corrupt or doesn’t have publisher information and disable it. Close IE completely and try to open it normally. Repeat this process, disabling add-ons until you hit on the one that is giving you trouble. If you think you still need that add-on then go to the publisher’s website and look for an updated version.

Anyone having problems please try downgrading your post editor.

. Settings (Top Right of page)
. In My Settings (Left hand side) > General Settings
. Set ... (in Message Editor Interface: )
    > Enhanced Editor - WYSIWYG
    > Basic Editor - A simple text box
    > Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls
. Then click Save Changes at the bottom of the page

I've been able to duplicate the problem in IE
I'm playing with some settings to see what needs to be fixed.
