    uploaded pics loose quality?

i'm not sure if this is the right place to post... anyway, anytime i upload a pic to one of those image sharing sites such as tinypic.com, once it has uploaded it loses saturation and looks somewhat dull, is it just that im using the wrong site?

    help appreciated.

Don't know much about the site you speak of, but most others (and probably yours) will downsize the image when uploaded. Often doing funny things.

As most forums etc like you to display an image in a max size of 1024 wide, try sizing them that way from your photo program, then uploading to your chosen site. Don't upload a larger image & let the site resize it.

There are two parts to resizing, 1. pixels (1024) 2. JPEG compression.
Also: Check your color space setting, it must be sRGB for Web publishing otherwise some browsers render a 'flat' looking image.

Some of the image hosting sites also tweak photos, to generally save bandwidth, If they save 10% on every photo across their entire sites, it gives then a quite substantial costs savings on bandwidth usage, and most people (not photographer) who just use these sites to store photos etc, don't even notice these small variations in quality.
