Is it possible to take a photo at night of a concert and get the soroundings of the stage while not over exposing the stage? or do you have to take 2 photos and post edit?

The limitations of your camera sensor are at play here and the best way would be to take two photos and blend thenm

there's usually too much brightness difference between stage and surroundings. so if you expose for the stage the surroundings will be dark and if you expose the surroundings the stage will be washed out. so yeah taking 2 photos and merge them is the best way. but i think it may be hard because there's a lot of movement.
