    www.scorptec.com.au POTW : THEME REMINDER

    Just a reminder that the www.scorptec.com.au Photo of the Week has a theme

    "FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY, LIGHT YOUR SUBJECT"

    We need to be able to see that artificial light has been used to light your subject.
    We have disqualified several entries that have not met the theme.

    Please ensure your entry does meet the theme or you may find your disqualified

    I myself didn't know that until now. Nowhere on the comps page does it say "www.scorptec.com.au Photo of the Week Flash Photography"
    I dare say, if members don't read this you will get lots of disqualifications.

    As you may know, I visit this site every day, and go through and read what is going on. I have never seen that page. There was nothing in the notifications like there was for the "Ships and Boats" comp. There are many members who mainly use the site for the competition. They may post one or two comments just so they don't get de-activated. I suggest they would not have seen it either. Hence the number of disqualifications already.

    @Geoff...
    The comp description (which displays on the entry confirmation screen) had THEME : “Flash Photography, light your subject” from the get go.
    Albeit, I changed it to larger font and colour yesterday, but the text was there when the comp was created by Rick.

    Even the comp announcement thread in the POTW forum has the theme in big letters, that thread was posted to the POTW forum Sunday night when the comp opened, as I do every week

    Personally I have always seen the theme for a themed comp in the announcements section (Just under the sponsers on the index page)
    I never go to POTW comps via the POTW section within the forum. I use the competition button at the top of the page (under the logo) and go directly to add image area.
    Nowhere in there is the theme mentioned, as it was with the "Ships & boats" competition. "Ships and boats" was clearly defined on this page.
    Notice "Sports Fever" is clearly defined.

    By the way. You had better go over to the comps and disqualify a few more!

    The confirmation page shows all the details of the comp

    Edit: I just changed the comp titles and added '(Themed)' to each

    Sorry Rick & Kym. The pain from this disease which I have have for the last month, is driving me nuts.
    But normally there is a quirky remark like " Dear geoffsta, this weeks POTW is Flash Photography. So get out there and start flashing" in the announcement bit on the index page. Like there is now for voting on ships and boats.
    I see by the amount of entries in the comp that don't follow the theme, I'm not the only one that takes short cuts.

    Once again, sorry for being narky.
    Geoff.

    When the competition was announced as being open for entries on Sunday night;

    http://www.ausphotography.net.au/for...#8221;-is-open

    This thread is in the POTW forum

    It was also announced in this thread on 14th September, in Site Matters

    http://www.ausphotography.net.au/for...eek-275-PRIZES

    There is only so much we can do to bring a theme to the attention of members. If they still cannot post an entry that meets the theme with all the details posted across the site, then unfortunately, their entry will be disqualified.

    I would have liked there to be a little more information in the competition area under the POTW for this coming week. I usually only go on the info there. But I understand why the rules must be adhered to and I will accept my disqualification and go and cry in the corner like an adult....
