70-200mm F/4 IS USM Owners - MF Issue?

    Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that when manually focussing their 70-200mm that it sometimes "slips"? ie you turn the focus ring and nothing happens? It tends to only happen if I turn the ring quickly, which is rare, but it's still annoying. Is it just my lens or is this part of the design? Everything else works great, just when I focus by man rather than by machine. I've also noticed that the AF seems slow, tho I don't really know for sure as my only reference point is my 17-40.

Not something I've ever experience with mine.
If it's under warranty get it checked.

Doesn't seem to happen with mine.

AF is reasonably fast, although if it hunts through the whole focal range it takes longer than I want. I normally set the focus delimiter.

Hmmm... Unfortunately it's secondhand. Others have said it seems faulty or worn so maybe I should go back to the seller.

Have same lens, never a problem, both man or auto focus smooth and very quick.
