A question for the knowledgeable Queenslanders.

We are off to the Cairns area pretty soon for a week or two and having never been there before I was wondering if anyone would care to recommend any particular places in the general are, both photographically and general interest wise.

The Kuranda markets are always worth a visit, take the train up and the skyway back down, or visa-versa if you prefer.

Paronella Park, at Mena Creek, 120km to the South, just south of Innisfail will keep you busy for a few hours

Thanks Muddy and Mark, seeing as Cooktown is only a short trip up the track and is a place I have always wanted to see for some reason or another I reckon it will be on the list, that hydro park looks like an interesting way to absorb some local history as well.

The Daintree River is interesting & pretty much guaranteed to see crocs in the wild. North of the River you go in to National Park with some spectacular coastal shots as well as the forest.

The Daintree discovery centre is worth a look as well

    Thanks Dan and John,
the Daintree looks as though it is now on the list along with Paronella Park, Kuranda, Cooktown and surrounds.
The camera bag is getting heavier and the wallet lighter by the minute.

Just before Daintree is Mossman Gorge. If you can fit this in you will be rewarded with great photos and a nice bush walk
