Back from Upgrade : New posting interface

We are back from the software upgrade and the first thing that members will probably notice is the upgraded message posting interface. Enjoy!

You set the new WYSIWYG editor via the Settings menu (top tight of page),
then General Settings (scroll down on the left),
then set the editor mode as you wish.
Don't forget to click Save Changes at the bottom of the page

For those members who like to write long posts (in particular tutorials etc). The site software is now capable of grabbing the formatting from Microsoft Word. So if you type your text in Word and have it all formatted, use the 'Paste from Word' Icon to get it into your thread with all the formatting intact.

Its the third icon in, on the top row with the W symbol

Actually it's the 2nd item, but that's not why I'm posting this. OK, this typing area turns black on entering text, so part of the following illustration is irrelevant. But, the icons are pretty hard to see as many of them are grey on black. Furthermore, if you click out of this typing area, say into the grey area above, the test becomes invisible, and makes you think (the 1st time) that you've lost the editing. Here's the illustration, which doe not cover the last point.
    Am.

Oh, and here's another thing: when you click on "Advanced", to get the Attachments button, all your edited text "disappears" again, until you click in the text editing area again.
This is quirkiness that falls into the "unexpected" camp.

And, every time you click out of the edit area, like attaching files, again the text disappears.

Yep, Am, there are skin issues at present, the reason the upgrade took so long was that the skins kept crashing the site.

We will have to live with the new styling for a while.

Switching to WYSIWYG mode seems to have helped me Am.

Actually, this looks OK now, with the grey edit background. And it did not disappear when adding attachment, etc,
    Ta, Am.

I tuned the styling - the supplied skin settings were too harsh.

OMG How good is this editor!!! I had a massive post written and accidently fit refresh on the browser and thought I had lost the lot, tried going back, forward, reload, undo, redo Gone!!!

I then stumbled on a button at the bottom that says "Restore Auto-Saved Content" and magically it all re-appeared. How good is that!!
