Something doesn't seem quite "right" with this sunrise

This is a sunrise taken at Ballina and because of lack of filters and harsh light, had to bracket my shots and HDR in PP.

It turned out "ok" but something seems 'wrong' with it..I'm putting my finger on WB and that it's too warm. Can anyone help with improving this?

I use Photomatix 3 and LR 3 as I'm a complete noob with Photoshop.

I think the tonemapping is overdone. But that's just personal preference.

I can see what you mean but with my limited experience, it looks like a good result for a HDR image. It's a very inviting photo, but I'll be interested to hear what more learned members have to say about improving it.

Does LR have color sliders ? like CS4 if so can you find the yellow and tone it down a little to me this has a strong yellow cast all over including the trees

To my eyes the colour is off.

It has too much yellow/green.

I don't think the tone mapping is overdone.

Try adding a channel mixer adjustment layer in Photoshop and tweak the sliders so that the sky colour ranges from blue to orange rather than green to yellow.

The green in the scrub is a little bit 'radio-active' to my eyes, so I'd selectively desaturate that to bring it back to normal, realistic levels.

Here's the re-work and I think it looks better now. I decided to stick with Lightroom 3 in which I moved the temperature slider to the left for a cooler tone and desaturated the green fauna with the brush tool.

Yes, the second image is much more realistic in colour, but to my eyes the saturation in the sky and water is too strong. I'd bring these down a tad.

Sorry to nit-pick, but I can see some dust bunnies in the sky (plain expanses of colour show these up prominently).

It'd be worth running over those with the clone tool.

Also apologies for the nitpic as well, but I'd say that a touch more warmth in the sencond (more blue) image may help a bit too.

I think the only real problem with the original was that it had too much green cast in it.

I don't think too much warmth is ever really a problem, in fact it's usually indirectly encouraged in the form of advice and encouragement to shoot in less harsh light.
Later earlier time slots are generally considered to be more appropriate as softer light conditions generally produce warmer tones.

It's a nicely exposed image too. Looks very good far a tonemapped HDR, which usually tend to look a bit garish.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll have a bit of a play with adding warmth when I get home tonight as you suggested Arthur and see how it turns out but overlly, I'm happy with the rework albiet cloning of a few dust bunnies.

You have to be a registered member of Ausphotography to view Member Photos forums as it goes some way in protecting members from having them 'borrowed' and used without permission. You could always use Flickr or Photobucket if your desire is to just put photos on the net for people to view. Ausphotography is for Photographers to post photos for critique and to learn from other photographers, not a Gallery!
