Anyone have experience with the 8-16mm Sigma?

    Hi Guys!

I've read all the reviews, and have decided to go for the Sigma 8-16mm as my wide-angle over the canon for my 550D. Just wondered, though i've already made the decision, if anyone else out there has first hand experience?

Would love to hear what you guys think!

Also ordered the 17-55mm EFS canon 2.8 so excited about having that arrive too

    Hi Imogen,

I've heard nothing bad about the lens, but people seen to lean toward the Sig 10-20 or the Tokina 12-24 0r Tokina 11-16 from what I've seen and read the Tokina would be the pick in either of the lenghts.
They call me "Blue" it's a red head thing.

I've only heard good things about the 8-16.
From what I've read, the Tokina lenses, while very good, do suffer from colour fringing in high contrast situations.
I think a lot of people stick to the 10-22mm lenses as these are known quanitity (read, been on the market for quite a while) and the 8-16mm is still quite a new lens.
Sigma's lenses are getting better all the time.

I'd love one of these myself!

It looks very good in reveiews and specs but remember that you can never put it on a camera with a sensor bigger than APS-C. But 8mm would be awfully tempting!

Looks a promising lens, at 8 you will have to watch where your feet are or they could be in the shot too
I have this silly idea, that I should actually go and take photos with all this photography gear I have already accumulated, before I collect any more!
