You might try trading it in on a different camera.
Otherwise shop by phone or computer for a better repair price.
I would upgrade to a D5100, or D7000.
Maybe someone would take it as a deposit for a D400 pre-order?
I have extra's cover on my home insurance. they said they would cover it. So it's being repaired. Got my cheque to pay for the repairs (less the $100 excess).
I'm going to have it as my back up camera, I'll upgrade in about a year or so we'll see.
