Yeah, go the 1.4 unless you are desperate for reach. The 2.0 starts to lose a bit too much quality (well the Canon version anyhow)

This may be a silly question but I'm looking at buying the same lens, Sigma 70-200/2.8 to go on my Nikon D700. Will the Nikon teleconverter work with the Sigma lens? I'm new to the teleconverter scene

Are you happy with the lens in general Porsche?? The Nikon version is a tad over my price range, so I'm considering the Sigma

I don't think Nikon one will, only kenko and sigma

Google the teleconverter compatability chart that I've also linked here not long ago to one of fredo posts

I've got the same lens in canon mount, and the sigma 1.4 works well, haven't used that much on this lens, but it works well on the sigma 100-300 f4, pretty good wide open @5.6, but gets very good @f8, and the AF slows down a little also.

Honest CC whether good or bad, is much appreciated.

The old version of Nikon converter may work, but poorly.
I think tamron also has one that fits.
I suggest either the Kenko or Sigma.

Yea the lens seems quite quick at focusing and in general haven't found any vices
