    I've seen these used on car wheels before.
    You have a little controler in the car, and as you drive along, the wheels light up with various meesages that you've programmed into them, as they spin along.

    Some clocks also use a similar system where they display the time in the air, using a sweep of light.

    Pretty cool IMHO.
