Lightroom and SonySLT- A33

I'm a Canon user myself, but my father has a Sony SLT-A33 and I bought him a copy of Adobe Lightroom 3.
However, the program doesn't seem to recognise the RAW format his camera uses.
I've done the latest updates etc., but it still won't work.

Does anyone here have any tips, apart from converting everything into Adobe RAW format first?

I just searched the adobe website and came up with this.
It lists the slt a33
