    Site Slowness/Access issues

Firstly, I want to say Sorry for the slowness of the site and the errors being generated.

These are not AP related, but server related. We have raised the issue with the site hosting company.

AP is not putting much load on the server:
    Uptime: 10 Days 5:19:35 Page generated in 17.43088 seconds with 37 queries [Server Load Averages (1:5:15) 3.23 : 3.06 : 3.53]

Loads of up to 20 are quite easily dealt with normally, so the issue is outside of AP. However, page generations of 17 seconds are not acceptable. We hope to have the hosting company look into this as a matter of urgency and hope to be able to give you further feedback, or good news soon!

    Apologies!

After a couple of server issues have been dealt with, the site appears to be running better in the last few minutes. I will leave the notice up, and give it an hour or two before being sure the issue has been sorted.

thanks everyone for bearing with us during this time, it's been very frustrating.

Are any members still having slowness issues? At this end, the site seems to be running well now!

Maybe its me or my ISP but I seem to think it is dreadfully slow. Took 2 seconds for this page to appear after clicking on the header.

2 seconds is better than the 15-20 we had last night. We are still working on it though to see if we can get it back to normal (less than 1 second).

We use a US based one cause to host the site in Aus would cost around $300.00 a month. Some Australian hosting companies have even refused to consider AP, once I give them the site details. The site serves over 200GB of data a month.

UPDATE: Earlier tonight we turned the site off and optimised database tables. Whilst it was off-line, we locked the site down via admin tools so the only people who could logon were Kym and myself. Even with just 2 users online we experienced very slow response times, so we have given all the data to the hosting company as we believe this issue is not able to be resolved by us, with any internal software adjustments, database rebuild and optimisations.

We hope the hosting company can get to the bottom of this soon and fix it.

So please bear with us, we are working on it, in the meantime, if the site gets to slow for you, consider taking some photos to put up when we are back to normal.

Whilst we have not had confirmation from the hosting company that the issue has been resolved the site is currently running faster than it has for the last couple of days. Lets hope they have found something, fixed it, and this speed will remain!

All site mods get performance info on every page.
    Page generated in 0.49695 seconds with 30 queries [Server Load Averages (1:5:15) 3.00 : 3.17 : 3.12]

So we all monitor for now.

Yes faster than last night, but nothing like it was a week ago. Hope they can fix it.

Edit: however now I've said that it seems better, hooray!

reading this thread: Page generated in 0.38018 seconds with 23 queries [Server Load Averages (1:5:15) 4.02 : 4.40 : 4.64] (we are on a 4 CPU x 4 Core server - so load averages < 16 are good)

    Cool!
