    Hyperlinks

    This arises from this threat
So I tried this in an e-mail and it didn't change the name of the link.
Therefore I assume it only works here on AP.
Is there a way of doing it in the world outside AP?

in an email you have to be in HTML format, highlight the text, right click and select hyperlink, then paste your link into the pop-up/window. Note that depending on what email ssyte, you are using you may not be able to select HTML format for the email in the first place.

Putting a link in a post, even to a 'nasty' site has zero effect on AP.
The only problem is when someone clicks a link and lands on a nasty site, which is not different from any other time that happens. i.e. don't download anything from that site.

In programs like word or outlook, you can use the insert hyperlink function and put a different name to the link than what the link actually contains.

Eg. The link could say www.google.com but actually goto www.yahoo.com - this is a normal function of HTML markup and the URL Bbcode on AP support this as it is totally normal.
