just became a pentaxian (k-5) now for lens lust to kick in

I just ordered a new K-5. It arrives Monday

A nice shiny 18-135mm will be attached to go with my ancient 50mm and 135mm.

Looking for longer telephoto. Seems like lots of options,
    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

    Congrats on the camera! Awesome.

What do you want in the lens? Big reach? Speed? Both?

Think about DA*300 f4, with a Kenko 1.5x or Tamron 1.4x TC; or alternatively a Sigma 100-300 f4 DG EX, also with a TC. Unfortunately, the Sigma is no longer in production.

Probably the reach but speed is a factor. Sharp at the long end. (oh and magically make my shooting better than average)

Do you lose much speed or sharpness using the 1.5X??

congrats on the K-5 wonderful camera.

I'd also suggest you have a look at the Sigma 150-500. I use it a lot for the reach it gives me at sporting fixtures.

Both the Sigma and Tamron 70-200 2.8 are great lenses, as well as the Bigma 150-500. It will most likely come down to how much you are willing to lay out.
