    Camera repairs in Melbourne

    Hi there

I'm looking to get a sensor clean/chamber clean up and focus screen replacement for a K-5. How it got to this state is a long story and a bit of a learning experience. Unfortunately it's considered a grey (brought overseas), so I don't have to use CR Kennedy (Aus Pentax Distributor) to do the service. So I'm looking for a reputable repairer in Melbourne to get the work done.

    I've gotten estimates from
    • Camera Clinic
    • Vintech
    • CR Kennedy
    • Shutterbox
    • Kirk's
    • Camera Check Point (in Dubbo)

As I've not had to have a camera serviced before, I'm not sure who would be the best bet? The quality of workmanship and customer service is more important to me than the cost, so I'm happy to give it to someone who will do a good job and not make it a nightmare.

I've done some searching here and on other forums but can't find a lot of information on any of these. So I'd be happy to hear of positive or negative experiences with any of the above places, or recommendations from other repairers not on the list.

    Thanks

I've used Camera Clinic in Collingwood. Very prompt service and did a good job.

I had the camera dropped in to them, but got them to send it back express post (living in the bush I wasn't driving down just to get it). From memory it was $90 all up.

In my case when I got dust on the sensor I tried to clean it as per the "book". Had it upside down so no more dust and every thing else that was suggested, but no where in the manual does it say, whilst doing the clean and peering in DON'T SNEEZE, damn - off to the pro's then
