    camera servicing

    hi,

my 40d has done about 5000 pics to date. I have never done any servicing or maintenance on it. Should i have by now. Should i take it somewhere for a service. Are they like a car and require regular services.

Also how many actuations should i expect from my well looked after 40d, before you start to see deterioration or issues.

    cheers

A camera with only 5000 actuations is nothing and still considered like new! Unless you meant 50,000

if there is no problems with the camera at all there is no need to service it, I cant remember exactly but the 40D was rated at up to 150,000 actuations, but would like someone to correct me on this if possible.

that being said, certain individual cameras are known to fail way before their rated time is up, and some just keep going at double or triple its rated life span!
