Little bit of pride, Epson Pano Awards 2011

Decided this year to make an effort to enter a few competitions, so started towards the top of the pile. Thought I might share my results as I am feeling rather proud (i know its probably not much to some).

After an early exit from the Moran Prize 2011 for failing to use nudity, stalker style poorly composed candids or indigenous Australians (just look at the judging, if you didn't do that you weren't going to make it any further, so much for contemporary Aussies going about everyday life), I decided to take a chance and enter in the 2011 Epson Pano Awards. Made 4 entries in the Amateur section, 2 in the Open section, and picked up 3 Bronze awards, which I was rather please about, 2 in the Amateur and one in the open. The shots:

    Amateur Bronze -
    1 - Sunrise on Ruapehu

    2 - The Shelf

And this one, which was rated poorly in the Amateur category, rated substantially higher in the Open competition to give me my third - Mt Ngauruhoe

Gives me a nice bar to aim at next time round, with some panoramic shots of a higher standard which I know I am getting.

I have to agree about the Moron competition. I've seen far better "Aussies going about there own business" shots on here.
The Epson comp looks interesting though. Must have a look.

All different moods, but all interesting. Like the composition and colour/light in 'The Shelf'.
Constructive critique of my photos is welcome and appreciated.

Congratulations. I enjoy the monotreatment you gave for Mt Ngauruhoe, sets the mood well.

Congrats John, always good to get some awards
There have been a few "contemporary" comps I have seen of late that have left me scratching my head, maybe I am more of a traditionalist than I thought!
