ok after much fidling with it.... i only just thought of removing the lens to have a look inside the body.
Lo and behold one side of the mirror has come off its hinge and everything seems rather bent... sad... i'd have to get another one... =(

The mirror has come off it's hinge and the mechanisms in it looks rather bent...
dang... i would have to get a new body... sad...
