best memory card for my 60D

Hi guys, so its a beautiful day here and i was hoping to take my new 60D out for a play.
    WRONG!
When i bought it the sales guy tried to sell me a card (that i told him I already had) Lucky I didnt buy it coz it doesnt fit!!! GRRRRRRR

So, i cant trust anyone in the real world can you guys please tell me what kind of card I need so I can go get it myself without any sales person trying to just "make a sale"?

    cheers

    SD / SDHC / SDXC
You need the speed (class) to match the download speed of your camera.

Apparently you need SD, SDHC or SDXC cards.

If you are intending to do any video work, the higher capacity SDHC or SDXC cards will suit the camera better.

The best place to buy them of course is through site advertiser Cheap Chips but they will obviously be closed over Easter.

It appears you need class 6 at minimum up to class 10 for good HD video.
Sandisk is the most reliable, buying cheap is a lucky dip sometimes.

I would be tempted to buy a "budget" sd card from anywhere, then you can play with your new toy

You can always keep it as a emergency spare, I have fast cards, but when they all are full (now that I shoot in raw, they fill up way too quickly), then rely on old cards to do the job, as long as I remember there speed limitations, in down load time, they still work fine.

Just another 2cents worth, I would never rely on only having one card, if it fails you lose everything, I prefer multi smaller cards, and often change them periodically while shooting.
I have this silly idea, that I should actually go and take photos with all this photography gear I have already accumulated, before I collect any more!

See some of my photos here.

While you do need the class 6 cards for video, I have found that the slower cards work quite well for pics, though I dont (so far) use the multiple pics settings. Even a 32gig card that I bought for $12 works fine for photos, even though it is a forgery - eg not a real Sandisk
