Surprisingly it can be used on an FX body very well, If used without the lens hood you will get reasonably minor vignetting in FX mode.
Not necessarily correct, the cropping will only occur if the camera body is set to automatically crop when it detects a DX lens -- Shooting Menu / Image Area / Auto DX Crop / On / Off
See above.
This thread has wandered off topic slightly ( even if the OP did enter into conversation about the suitability of DX lenses on FX bodies ) so if any one has queries about lenses being compatible with differing format bodies other than the Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G please feel free to start a new thread in the appropriate forum.
Just wondering about the options of adding filters to the 14-24mm .... because it has a built-in lens hood
Regards,
Phil
Phil read through the thread thoroughly and you will see a few comments about the inability of that lens to accept filters apart from the presently scarce as hens teeth Lee filter adapter.
I have heard a rumour that a slightly demented individual that lives on the coast in Vic. is about to undertake an exercise in adapting the Cokin X Pro series holder to a Tokina 16-28 lens which has remarkably similar dimensions to the Nikon 14-24.

I saw somewhere someone built one from scratch using the Cokin Z-Pro I think.
He had guidelines on how to do it if you're so inclined, it just takes a bit of searching to find.
