    Canon 550D or 600D

I recently sold my old 450D with a view to upgrade to a new DSLR. I was thinking of buying 550D before. But since the 600D is out now, I am unable to decide whether I should stick to 550D or buy a pricier 600D. I would like to hear from those who have used and compared these cameras. Since the 600D is a relatively new camera, I haven't been able to find much reviews on it.

much of a muchness. All camera's are obsolete in 12-18 months, so even if you get a 600D it will be an old model next year. The 550D has the ability to take great photos in the right hands. It is really up to you and how much you want to spend.

Not much between 550 and 600 really, it just comes down to gimmicks features. Not sure why you would sell your 450D to go to one of these though, waste of money in my book, the 450D was and still is a great camera! Better of spending or saving the money for better lenses. To late now I guess.

I have a 550D and after playing with the 600D at work I can say that Etherial is right, the pics are going to be the same on both, more bells and whistles on the 600D but nothing super special(remote flash is nice to have though),

Get the 550D and use the difference to buy yourself an extra prime lens, IMHO. 600D only has extra gimmicks, not better image quality.

The flip-out screen of the 600 is very handy if you do a lot of tripod shooting, and the wireless flash is also very handy sometimes, if you have a Canon flash that is.

I have a 60D, and often use these features.

The price difference between the 550 and 600 is certainly substantial. If you've just sold your 450D and considering upgrading to it's new version... i think you should rethink the plan. Since your obviously not a camera newbie, have you considered the 60d? It's feature rich where it counts. Pentaprism, more focus points and noticeably longer battery life.

    I have a 550D and love it.

The only thing I could gain from the 600D is the fold out screen as I always do odd angles and it'd just make it a little easier. But at the end of the day, that is the ONLY difference that'd be a great use (in my personal opinion).

Decided to "shave" my signature ;]
    Now mostly shoots with: Canon 5D MK3 & Canon 24-70 f/2.8/50mm f/1.8 (also have a 550D with a variety of lenses/goodies and a Sony Nex-5N)
PP with: Lightroom only, Photoshop is merely a 9-5 work tool for me.

i have 600d which has been awesome.
looking at it now may have been better off spending the money on the 60d...but at the time 600d was better choice and i don't regret the decision....
go the 60d if you don't want to spend as much 600d....the video function is awesome as well....

600D wasn't available at the time that I bought mine. I bought mine just before the 60D came out, but didn't want to wait and also spend the extra it would've cost me!

The remote flash feature is well worth it in IMHO, saves buying a 580 or a st transmitter... I bought the 550, but was unaware of the flash controller feature (despite my extensive reading, must have just missed it!) I have now purchased a 580 to go along with my 430... GAS

I agree with this 100%. Sometimes, the simpler the better.
