    Substantial Discounts

A heads up for those that are in the market for new gear. Nikon Australia are providing heavy discounts on some bodies and lenses up until the end of March. Bodies with discounts include D700, D300, D90 and D7000. D700 has a $500 discount

Lenses are also being discounted including $1000 off the 600 f4.

You don't buy from Nikon. You buy from a retailer

Try Ryda.com or DCW if your in sydney, they have great prices for aussie stock of the D7000 and D700. Its actually cheaper/the same price to buy from them then the US or grey ones like Digital Rev or DWI (who I hate with a passion). For example, the D7000 is $1,278.85 at ryda.com (which by the way is a brick and mortar store in sydney) vs $1279.99 at digitalrev.

It's great to see some aussie based stores match the grey prices with aussie stock - .lets see if digital rev or DWI can pipe in and give us better prices

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.

I would suggest that they are discounting possibly for three reasons.
    1) The strong Aussie $ has meant that their new stocks are cheaper
    2) That a few of these items may be going to be upgraded, like the D700. The rumour is that the D700 is to be upgraded to a D800(?) and the anouncement is in March and there should be a new D300 on the way as well.
    3) Local sellers are getting hammered by overseas on line sellers and they need to be able to compete, so Nikon has come to the party, so to speak.

The D 7000, I was quoted $2000 and $1890 locally a few weeks ago! That is a body only! Now it is only $1300 as in the previous posts! Will check the local price later today!

Makes you wonder what is going on! A newer model coming or some troubles!

You would be very happy if you had paid heaps for it a month ago!

The new P500 looks very appealing!

I first saw the deals at ECS in Sydney, Nikon on Broadway also has them advertised for slightly cheaper. I spoke to the guy at Broadway and he was saying that it was to compete against the grey sellers. He hasn't heard anything other than rumpled about the 700 replacement. He was also saying that it is directly aimed at placing Nikon inside price comparison with the canon equivalents

I don't know what the deal is but Nikon on Broadway is now only showing a $300 discount on the D700 (not hard to tell what I have my eye on). It will be interesting to find out what the deal is.

There are lots of "I must have" people out there, and due to the upgrading they are getting rid of perfectly good 'superseeded' models.
I just bought a 3month old (as new) D90 body as a backup for $ - - - because the owner 'had to have' the new D7000.
So as the old saying goes "the best time to buy is now"
