Canon 1dmk1 conecting to windows 7

I recently purchased a 1d mk1 with firmware ver .1.4.0 and can not get it to work on windows 7!.I have a port iee1394 for the fire wire cable to conect to the computer.I have been useing the 50d and swapping the cf cards out to load the images as this works, but i want to access the camera settings and it does not connect to the computer .Or should i just get rid of it ? and buy some other body that works with my system set up.Any help would be great.

All sorted after 2 days of trying all different updates and registry changes as well as searching the net with no answer , just added a second hard drive and a lot older operating system.Now computer boots up with two versions of windows as i can only get it to run the camera on xp and not on windows 7. . After all this i dont think i really like how slow it all works and will probally just get rid of the 1D
