Do you use the focus trap feature on your cameras. I think its an ingenius idea but am curious to see if its just a gimmic or whether its effective/accurate enough to be useful? I wish camera companies would share technology and bring together the best that everyone has to offer - not gonna happen i know.

I played with it over a year ago. Works well, but you really need a situation that needs it.

I've thought about it, but never really had the right opportunity. I'm not very good at birding or flower and flying insect macros so maybe it would be useful tool there. Both involve lots of unpredictable movement and maybe focus triggering would help sort that out.

No, I don't use it. But that is because I tend to prefer taking shots of subjects that are not moving. Action photography is not my style.

Never used it, but thought it be handy with some bird shots......my patience with sitting in a hide for hours in summer wore very thin very quickly

Yes, I've used it a bit.
Mostly with MF lenses chasing bugs or leaves/flowers moving slightly in the wind.

It works but isn't perfect. My K20 can be a bit picky about when it decides something is in focus.
I certainly enjoyed playing with it but wouldn't go out of my way to keep it in an upgrade.

if i understand the k7 manual properly the only lens i can use with catch in focus is my bigma
have not tried it too seriously, but it would definately have its uses.

I use it all the time with the DA*300 with teleconverter. I turn the focus motor off an focus manually and this allows me to control the focus range particularly with moving targets. Also works a treat in low light.

Is this the feature where you set the focus to one spot and when the subject reaches the in focus point the camera exposes?
I have never used that one. I know that it could come handy and if I ever go to a car or other race I could use it to overcome my lens' slow focus speed. However, to make things easier I probably would preset manually to a focus area and take a multiple exposure burst at the focus point.

All the time - very useful with a TC on the DA*300 f4 as it allows me to easily control the focus range and works well in low light to get a focus.
