Nice - not keen on the snake skin look though.
I have always been interested in photography (more as a hobby). Now I want to be more than just an amateur photographer, improve my skills and start my own business when the time is right. To help me do this, I would be greatful for any feedback positive or negative so I can improve my skills and knowledge

It's beautiful. Shane, are you BigRed off the overlander 4WD forum? And can I ask how you find the Kx - I have been considering one of these, among others.

I love my K-x, Odille, but if I was spending the money today I would go to the K-5! I know it's roughly twice the price (new), and the K-x is being offered at ridiculous prices because it has been superceded by the K-r, but the benefits are enormous and you'd get roughly 5 times the camera for that extra money. I know, I know, I have a very bad case of GAS for the K-5 and you can blame Kym for that!

If money is the issue, though, the K-x is frighteningly good value for the price.

The leather used on that gorgeous camera is actually crocodile or alligator skin (or a leather embossed to look like it), and not snake or lizard.
Perhaps they were done in real skin, which is why they couldn't import them into the USA.

Unless looked after really well, which means no touching or rubbing, the gold plating would have gone dull and worn off by now.

    Gorgeous thing it is though.
    Would you use one?

I think it's something you put on the shelf and admire for many years.

Back in the old days, many SLR's were available with 50mm F1.2 and F1.4 lenses as standard (I had a Canon FT QL with the 50mm F1.4 back then), and Canon had a viewfinder camera back in the late 60's that had a 0.95 lens!

The pentax SMCP 50mm f/1.2 is a surprisingly good lens considering it's vintage, out of my 170+ 50mm lens collection, it's the super-speed 50 I find myself reaching for 98% of the time when I am working with an SLR.
