Hi I have a canon 70mm-200mm and am considering purchasing an extender.

I would appreciate an comments you may have on the use of extenders

    Hi Noel,
The 70-200 L's work quite well with the 1.4xTC, I use mine a fair bit. Note you do lose a stop of light (i.e. My f2.8 becomes f4 max aperture) and (apparently) some focus speed. The 2xTC is really only recommended for the super-tele lenses, although some on this site have got reasonable results... If you want to use 400mm a lot you're probably better off saving for a 400 f5.6L.

    Cheers
    John

I have a 70-200 Canon and a Teleplus Pro 300 2X converter and although I lose AF as my
lens is an F4 I have no problems with the pix. I live in WA so bright days are a regular thing
so losing the 2 stops of light, my F4 becomes F8, is of little consequence.
I have a Sigma F2.8 120-300 and that keeps the AF.
I also have a Canon F1.8 50mm that loses AF but stays at F1.8. AF is there but constantly hunts.
I have yet to try it on my Canon f2.8 400mm and 100mm Macro lenses.
    Hope this helps.
    cheers Kerro
I shoot with Canon cameras and Canon and Sigma lenses and now a Mavic Pro too

I used one with a Canon 100-400 mm and was satisfied with the result. I bought it because of the price difference compared with a Canon. The build is not comparable though.
