Santa was good this year - he did his own Christmas shopping!
I received a Kata 123-GO-20 bag, a view-finder extender and a bigger SD card. I've almost got the money for my macro lens thanks to selling stuff that I don't use on ebay!

I went to buy a blender for the misses in the post-xmas sales as the old one blew up a month ago. It was a small Kenwood unit.

They don't make small blenders anymore, the misses blames Masterchef for that. I guess it is an ego thing. We have such a small kitchen that we would need to build an extension on the house for some of them.

Anyway, I was shocked by the prices at Myer, ranging from $60 (fair enough) to over $300, so I went to the Bad Guys and bought the smallest I could find which was only $40 and then spent the change on a Nikkor 18-105 VR lens from Hardly Normals which turned out to be less than on eBay (including from Hong Kong et al) and was almost 60% off the (stupid) price marked on the box.

It sort of ruined my lens buying plan, but hey, I have now pretty much filled the gap between my 10-24 and 150-500.
    Cheers

Olympus Pen F with Metabones Speed Booster and Laowa 12mm f/2.8 or Voigtlander 10.5mm f/0.95 or Nikon D800 with the Laowa 12mm f/2.8. The need to keep in touch with the past is a Nikon Photomic FTn or Nikon F2A and a Nikkor 25-50mm f/4 AI

I bought me a NextoDI Extreme 2700 back-up drive, and ended up going for the Bamboo Pen & Touch graphics tablet (should have it Tuesday). Thought it best to learn to use one before getting carried away with something like an Intuos.

Indeed! DOA 400/2.8 = very sad Christmas.

    I feel your pain, mine thinks it is an expensive waste of $$ and while she is quite happy to take pics of our animals and sights when we go overseas, she is only willing to use the fast method of P&S Sony TX-7 (I think that is what it is). She has absolutely no interest at all in any photography that involves anything more than;

turn camera on > point at subject > hold shutter button 1/2 way down until it beeps and shows a green frame on screen > depress shutter button all the way down > turn off camera and return to handbag

When she passes comment on my wasting more $$ on expensive camera gear, I ask her if she would rather I buy a helicopter to go with my plane??? Another of my expensive hobbies she hates....

Good thinking. I did something similar: I hinted that I had a yearning for a sports-car (which I do not).

When my wife complained that this was way too expensive, I suggested I'd settle for some camera gear.

    She was relieved

My god, they are breading like flies.

The Siggy 150-500 has to be the best bang for buck of any large chunk glass out - and it is a gooden to boot!!!

Got the Bamboo Pen and Touch yesterday as a late Christmas present. Mucked around for about 30 mins last night and I like it, although it will take some getting used to before I can draw straight lines or anything well.

This month will be filled with 'Christmas presents' before leaving Korea though...the list of things to get is slowly growing by the minute.

Sony NEX-5 Twin Lens kit. Because missus does think it's ridiculous to carry a 1D around on daily basis

And I was sooooo cloooose to get my dream lens: 70-200 f2.8L MkII.... but missus tighten the belt in the last second
