    South Africa.

I have finally got my first DSLR.
    canon 550D arrives tomorrow.
I made a deal with my dad that if i let him take the camera to South Africa 10 days he would buy it for me. Being the poor teenager i am, i agreed.

I need a bag to travel with. Any suggestions would be great. I just need to fit canon 550D and twin lens kit.

I was just wondering if there are anythings i should get before he leaves. Any accessories, filters, ect. ect.

    Thanks
    Ben.

OK...I was in South Africa last year. After the sporting event was over we went to a couple of animal parks, and then did a three day trip to Kruger.

That's where you get shots of a lifetime, so you don't want to have problems. Take everything you think you might need because finding stuff in SA is not easy.

    You should take:
One or two spare batteries (and charger of course)
Several spare memory cards of at least 4GB each
Beg, borrow or whatever a telephoto lens
    Get a good flash unit
    Polarising and UV filters

Some of that you can buy Duty Free, but I made sure that I had everything before I left.

    Have fun.

Duty free rarely works out cheaper than any of the online dealers.
    Using a 7d or a s95

    Hi Ben, Cool stuff.
Best to get a spare battery.
Yeap a CPL would be very usefull. (Polarising Filter)
Spare memory card, get your camera set to RAW picture capture mode and put the colour to Adobe RGB, All in the manual and easy to do.
If you can get a bag, decide if you want a backpack or a shoulder type bag. Lowepro have the "Slingshot and the Pro Runner" both great bags. Here is a link http://www.lowepro.com/intl

I have the slingshot 200 aw, It will hold my 50D with either the Sigma 18-50 or my Canon 17-85mm fitted, and my 70-200mm L lens in a compartment, I also have a 1.4 x teleconvertor and a few filters, battery grip and remote for firing in top pocket. In saying that, I want to get the Pro Runner 300, it has more space, cost of the bags at the mo are dirt cheap, try AP site sponsor links for some prices. Make sure you leave room to expand with the bag, trust me. Also the Lowepro bags mentioned have a weather proof cover, airport/plane size friendly. The 200 is a sling bag http://products.lowepro.com/product/...-AW,2192,4.htm which some people really like (I Did) it's just to small for mt needs now. The Pro Runner would be my susgestion http://products.lowepro.com/product/...%20AW,2181.htm This is the smallest and around $140 in OZ at the mo. They step up in size from here.

    Have fun.
They call me "Blue" it's a red head thing.
