    Commercial Printers

I don't want to use big w, harvey norman etc.

I want a good quality printing company.

I've looked at a few companies. But i'm specifically after:
    1. no minimum orders
    2. postage based on order (not fixed eg $25 for 1 or 1000)

Anyone here recommend a printer that they have used and they are happy with, and their clients happy with.

    tia.

Only place I can really comment on is the business I work for, but there are probably better priced alternatives if you'll be using the internet etc to order. RGB digital or whatever they're called (up in QLD I think?) are well respected in the industry, however I think they have minimum order quantities and minimum postage fees. If you need lots of small prints done and you live too far away from a printer, why not set yourself up with a decent Epson A3 photo printer or similar? At least then, if there is a mistake, you can just redo the picture straight away. (I know sometimes I miss things in the editing process that I only later pick up once I see the print).
    Canon stuff 5Dmk1 w/ 24-70 f2.8L, Canon 5Dmk1 w/70-200f2.8L, 100mm f2.8 macro, 50mm f1.4, 580exII
    Alienbees B800, Lumopro 160, Manfrotto 155XPROB w/ 498RC2, Lowepro ProRunner X450AW
    Phew!

If you want something relatively close to you then I'd recommend The Edge Photo Imaging in Collingwood. I don't know if there is a minimum order.

I use Pixel Perfect in Sydney although they do have a $25 min order.

I haven't used RGB or anyone else so can't comment.

    Good luck

I use B&W photographics. But I do p/up orders as they are on the way home from work.

I have a calibrated monitor and their prints are very close to what's on my screen.

I use Digilab in Brisbane. After numerous attempts at other professional labs I stumbled across these guys and they print exactly as i see it on my calibrated monitor. Highly recommended if your lab in Melbourne doesn't work out.

i'm now using black & white, and they are brilliant, love them so easy to use, and images come out exactly as my calibrated monitor.

If you check out some of the Camera House stores, they have some great equipment and the images come out great. Not done via their 12c machines but done by an operator. You may have to look around to find one with real experience. We use one here in QLD and since they got their new printers they have provided good outcomes. Also they can give you the printer profiles.
